Imphal: A revitalising Yoga, Meditation and Surya Namaskar session was organised by the Assam Rifles at MB Saichang Upper Primary School in Kangpokpi District on 21 May 2026. This health initiative brought together a combined strength of 84 participants, comprising 60 students, 14 teachers and 10 local civilians, who actively engaged alongside the troops. Operating in a disciplined and highly interactive environment, the programme immersed the local community in various traditional yogic postures, deep meditation techniques and structured Surya Namaskar exercises specifically curated to enhance physical stamina, mental clarity and overall lifestyle wellness.
The event successfully aligned with the ongoing nationwide 100-day countdown to the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, a massive public health outreach initiative launched by the Government of India to embed yoga as a daily habit across diverse communities. By consistently spearheading these structured countdown sessions over the past weeks, the security forces have helped demystify holistic healthcare in remote border areas. The session left a lasting impact on the attendees, successfully motivating the younger generation to embrace mindful living and constructive self-care routines. Through this shared wellness experience, the initiative significantly enhanced community health awareness while deepening the foundational bond of trust and mutual goodwill between the local populace and the security forces.
