Imphal: In a resolute stride towards fortifying regional peace, communal harmony and national integrity, the Assam Rifles orchestrated a sweeping series of community outreach activities across Manipur on 21 May 2026. Synchronised with National Anti-Terrorism Day—an occasion dedicated to weaning humanity away from violence and promoting tolerance—the initiatives unified over 410 local youths, students, villagers and security personnel in a collective stand against radicalisation.
The security forces seamlessly blended environmental responsibility, creative expression and physical empowerment to establish a multi-dimensional shield against anti-social activities. In Tengnoupal District, an awareness programme culminated in a solemn ceremony where a combined strength of 100 personnel joined local students and teachers to administer the Anti-Terrorism Pledge, reaffirming an unwavering commitment to safeguard the sovereignty, integrity and security of the nation. Concurrently, the focus shifted to grassroots resilience at Thingkeu village in Churachandpur District, where a basic self-defence skills training programme equipped approximately 60 villagers, including local women and youth, with vital tactical techniques and situational awareness to handle emergencies confidently. Complemented by tree plantation drives and poster-making competitions across various locations, these initiatives successfully transformed the abstract concepts of social responsibility into tangible communal actions. Senior officials interacting with the participants emphasized the vital role of the younger generation in fostering a progressive, violence-free society. By actively involving the local populace, the Assam Rifles has effectively strengthened civil-military relations, underscoring that long-term regional stability relies entirely on the unbreakable bond of trust and cooperation between the security forces and the vibrant communities they serve
