Awareness programme on prevention of drugs held

Imphal: A programme on Awareness on Prevention of Substance & Drug Abuse was organized by the District Administration Imphal East District and District Social Welfare Officer, Imphal East in co-ordination with Apunba Luwangsangbam Clubs at Luwangsanbam Makha Leikai Community Hall, Luwangsangbam Tuesday.

The function was attended by P Bimola Devi, Adhyaksha, Imphal East Zilla Parishad as chief guest and Khumanthem Diana Devi, Deputy Commissioner as president. Shamim Ahmad Shah, ADM, Imphal East, Ngangom Uttam Singh, Director, Social Welfare, Manipur, Kshetrimayum Ravikumar, SDPO, Lamlai, Elangbam Amuthoi, BDO Heingang CD Block, Salam Rajen Singh, Personal Secrertary to the Chief Minister, Manipur, Sanjenbam Angou Singh, Pradhan were the guests of honour.

Ngangom Uttam, Ksh Jibanmala, Project Director, Kripa Foundation and Kshetrimayum Ravikumar were the resource persons of the day’s function. Uttam emphasized on the need for strong and friendly relationship between parents and children to prevent drug abuse. Jibanmala spoke about the behavioral change which took place on the children who are using drugs. Ravi Kumar highlighted the steps being taken up by the police and the need to spread awareness about  the NDPS Act. 

P Bimola mentioned Chief Minister’s on the War on Drug and appealed all the members present to co-operate with the state’s effort to eliminate use of drugs. She further appealed to start from our own family as the time has come we act. And Diana highlighted fact that there are pockets in the district which are amongst the most vulnerable.

The programme was concluded with a pledge to eliminate the use of psychoactive substances from Heingang AC.
