AU registrar Pradosh Kiran Nath informed that Saturday was the last working day of the present vice-chancellor. However, in the absence of any direction communicated by the Union ministry of education (amid the pandemic), Assam University Executive Council in a meeting held on Saturday, decided that the incumbent vice-chancellor should be allowed to continue in his post until the ministry of education gives any direction.

“Under the chairmanship of Sivasish Biswas, pro-vice chancellor of Diphu campus of AU, the Executive Council after thorough examination of the matter, decided to allow incumbent VC Dilip Chandra Nath to continue in his post pending ministry’s direction”, the registrar said.

Drawing its 300 plus faculty from many disciplines, from all over the country, the university, having its campuses at Dorgakona near Silchar and Diphu in Karbi Anglong, sustains a multidisciplinary approach to higher education. The university has 16 schools on major disciplines. There are 35 departments under these 16 schools.
