Assam: Third precautionary booster dose from Jan 10

Guwahati: The Assam government will begin administering the `precautionary’ third booster dose of COVID 19 vaccine from January 10.

The health department said that the government will inoculate “precautionary” third dose to all senior citizens having comorbidities and frontline workers.

“Senior persons with co-morbidity & who have completed 9 months after their 2nd dosage, will get 3rd dose of immunisation from Jan 10 onwards,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

According to the Union Health Ministry, more than 152.52 crore (1,52,52,23,275) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category.

Also, more than 19.84 Cr (19,84,31,861) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
