Imphal: In a profound commitment to nurturing the aspirations of the younger generation and fostering regional stability, the Assam Rifles undertook several impactful youth development initiatives in Manipur. By focusing on merit and professional guidance, the force is actively creating pathways for talented students from conflict-affected and remote areas to achieve excellence and contribute to nation-building. These efforts highlight the dual approach of providing immediate educational sponsorship to the deserving while equipping the wider student body with the clarity required for future professional success.

At the heart of these initiatives is the sponsorship of NDA coaching for Ms Ningthoujam Anju Chanu, a meritorious student from Kakching district who secured 87.2% in her higher secondary examinations. Despite the tragic loss of her father during the ethnic violence of 2023–24 and the resulting financial hardships, her resolve to serve the nation remained unshaken. Recognising her academic brilliance and perseverance, the Assam Rifles facilitated her admission to a premier defence academy, ensuring that personal adversity does not hinder her journey towards becoming an officer in the Indian Armed Forces. This gesture has resonated deeply within the local community, standing as a testament to the force’s role as a proactive partner in inclusive development.

Complementing this individual support, a comprehensive career counselling session was conducted at Assam Rifles Public School, Keithalmanbi in Imphal West district on 13 May 2026. The programme saw the active participation of 102 attendees, including students from diverse backgrounds, parents and teachers. The session provided an extensive overview of entry schemes into the Defence Forces, alongside exploring lucrative prospects in the medical and engineering sectors. By collaborating with academic experts and providing a platform for interactive dialogue, the Assam Rifles has empowered these students to make informed decisions about their futures. Through such sustained efforts in Kakching and Imphal West, the Assam Rifles continues to instil confidence and hope in the youth of Manipur, reinforcing the bond of trust between the security forces and the people.
