Imphal: Continuing its dedicated drive towards public health and community welfare, the Assam Rifles extended its reach across Tengnoupal, Kakching and Chandel districts on 12 May 2026. These ongoing efforts seamlessly integrate national health priorities with local outreach, reinforcing the force’s commitment to a disease-free India while honouring the pillars of the healthcare system. By transitioning from urban garrisons to border townships, the Assam Rifles has ensured that the momentum of the ‘TB Mukt Bharat’ campaign remains vibrant and inclusive.
The day was marked by a series of intensive awareness programmes focused on the eradication of Tuberculosis, conducted at Moreh in Tengnoupal district, Kakching district and Sehlon in Chandel district. These sessions collectively engaged 375 participants, including troops, medical staff and 200 students alongside their teachers from the Assam Rifles Public School, Kakching. Medical officers provided comprehensive guidance on early diagnostic indicators, the importance of completing treatment protocols to prevent drug resistance and the vital role of personal hygiene in curbing transmission. By involving the youth and the frontier populace, the initiative has expanded the scope of the national mission, transforming health consciousness into a shared community responsibility.
Parallel to these preventive efforts, the Assam Rifles celebrated International Nurses Day at Moreh Hospital in Tengnoupal district to acknowledge the indispensable role of frontline healthcare workers. In a poignant ceremony, civil nurses and medical staff were felicitated for their unwavering dedication and selfless service, particularly in the challenging and remote operational terrains of the Northeast. This gesture of appreciation, highlighted by a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony, served to strengthen civil-military relations and boost the morale of those who provide critical medical support to both security personnel and the local community. Through this harmonious blend of health education and professional recognition, the Assam Rifles continues to champion social harmony and holistic well-being in the region.
