New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday appealed to Congress workers across quake-hit Assam to be at the forefront in relief and rescue efforts.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Assam. Covid crisis in the state will be compounded by the earthquake, making it difficult for help to reach the affected,” Wayanad MP said on Telegram.
“We stand in solidarity with you in these testing times,” the Gandhi scion said.
“I appeal to Congress workers across the state to be at the forefront in rescue and relief efforts,” the former Congress president added.
The quake, measuring 6.7 on the Richter Scale, epicentred at Sonitpur district in Assam occurred at 0751 hrs, a seismologist at the Regional Seismological Centre said.
