Assam: Huge cache of arms recovered in Kokrajhar dist

Two automated rifles, four magazines, 22 pressure pumps, 16 hand grenades and several explosives which were concealed in the plastic packets were recovered.

Guwahati: Assam police on Tuesday recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives at Mahamaya Reserve Forest in Kokrajhar district in lower Assam.

Acting on a specific intelligence, Kokrajhar police team led by L R Bishnoi, Special DGP and IGP, Bodo Territorial Region recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition which was dug under the soil in the reserve forest area.

Two automated rifles, four magazines, 22 pressure pumps, 16 hand grenades and several explosives which were concealed in the plastic packets were recovered.

“We suspect that these arms belongs to the National Democratic Front of Bodoland and were kept hidden in the forest area since last two years. We are in lookout for more such arms hidden in the jungle area. Search is on,” Bishnoi said.
