Arunachal seeks NOC for railway projects

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has said that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has promised to take up the issue of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for railway projects in the northeastern state with the Defence Ministry.

Vaishnaw gave this assurance when Mein called on him here on Monday to discuss the railway projects, official sources said on Tuesday.

Mein requested the Minister to start the Murkongselek to Pasighat broad gauge line in Arunachal Pradesh at the earliest. He said the strategic line of Pasighat-Tezu-Rupai spanning 217 km will revolutionize the communication network in eastern Arunachal Pradesh and will also facilitate movement of defence forces to the border areas.

He also requested the Minister to commence the Rupai to Parshuram Kund railway line simultaneously.

Moreover, there is a railway line up to Rupai and the holy pilgrimage site at Parshuram Kund in Lohit district is visited by lakhs of pilgrims every year.
