New Delhi: The Arunachal Pradesh tableau based on the theme ‘Anglo-Abor (Adi) Wars’ showcased the patriotism, bravery and rich cultural heritage of the frontier state at the Republic Day parade, here on Wednesday.
It showed the resistance of the indigenous tribal people of the state, particularly the Adis of Siang region (formerly known as Abors), who had bravely fought against the Britishers to protect their land.
The front part of the tableau showed a bust of an Abor warrior and two other warriors defending against the intruders.
The rear portion depicted an Anglo-Abor War sequence fought between 1858 and 1912.
A total of 21 tableaux, 12 of various states and Union Territories, and nine of different Ministries were showcased at the Republic Day parade this year.
