Agartala: Tripura Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya on Wednesday urged the people to join the development activities undertaken by the state government, as he unfurled the Tricolour at Assam Rifles stadium here on the nation’s 73rd Republic Day.
Highlighting the achievements of the state government, Arya pointed out that Nesha Mukta Tripura (anti-drug addiction) movement, launched by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb soon after assuming office, has been a huge success over the years, and has also contributed significantly to the improvement of law and order situation.
“Tripura has marked a remarkable progress in three years in the socio-economic and infrastructure development front. The state has been allocated a target of 1.60 lakh houses under the scheme during 2021-22 under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana to ensure housing for all,” the Governor underlined.
He said that MBB airport of Agartala was elevated to international standard with the most modern facilities while expansion work of all eight national highways and connecting Agartala with Bangladesh through railway line have been progressing fast. The state government has been working on a mission mode for boosting the rural economy and women empowerment, which will be strengthened further with mass involvement, Arya added.

The officials said the Civil Defence activities since 1971 were confined to Agartala city.
After Bhattacharya became Director of Civil Defence last year, the activities extended to all eight districts and now, there is the presence of trained CD volunteers throughout the State and the activities are going on professionally. The Ministry of Home Affairs this year selected Civil Defence functionaries from six out of 29 states for prestigious presidential awards and Bhattacharya happens to be the lone recipient in the category of Director Level Officer this time.
