Arunachal logs highest single-day spike with 186 cases

Itanagar: In the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases in about three-and-a-half months, Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday recorded 186 new cases that took its active caseload to 535, a senior health official said.  

With this, the Northeastern state’s tally of confirmed cases has mounted to 55,878. 

On the contrary, with three fresh recoveries, the cumulative number of recovered cases has risen to 55,061.

Of the fresh infections, Itanagar Capital Complex accounted for the highest cases at 86, followed by Lower Dibang Valley and Tawang (16 each), Lohit (15), West Siang (13), Namsai (11) and West Kameng (10). Among other districts, Changlang detected seven cases. 99 of the total cases turned out to be asymptomatic and 87 symptomatic, he said.

A positivity rate of 13.71 per cent was logged as 1356 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. It stood at 8.86 per cent on Tuesday.

The state’s death toll remained at 282 as no casualties were reported in the period, the official said.
