Hyderabad: Pope Francis installed Our Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Poola Anthony as a Cardinal in Vatican City, Rome, Italy, Fr. Victor Emmanuel T, Chancellor and Procurator, Archdiocese of Hyderabad said in a release here on Saturday.
This ceremony was held at St. Peter’s Basilica at 7:30 Pm IST.
It was a Historic moment for Hyderabad, both Telugu States and India at large that the Archbishop of Hyderabad is one of the College of Cardinals of the Roman Pontiff to guide him in various matters, the release said.
Archbishop Poola Anthony is the First Telugu Cardinal to be appointed.
This is truly a proud moment for all of us. A delegation from Hyderabad consisting of Bishops, Priests, relatives of Archbishop and faithful went to Rome to witness this celebration.
Pope Francis has called for a meeting of all the Cardinals from August 29 to 30. The meeting will be ended with a Holy Mass Presided by Pope Francis.
