Imphal: Based on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles established a mobile vehicle check post at Chehyang Village, Chandel District on August 27,2024 and recovered 18 vehicles transporting an estimated 61.2 tons of areca nuts approximately worth Rs 5.29 crore on the Indo-Myanmar border. The operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to monitor and control illegal activities.
The vehicles, along with the individuals involved in the transport, were seized and subsequently handed over to the Forest Department, Chakpikarong, Chandel District, stated a press note from the PRO IGAR(S).
On the other hand, acting on specific intelligence of the presence of arms and ammunition in the fringe areas of Kakching district, the Manipur Indian Army, Assam Rifles, BSF and Manipur Police launched an operation on August 28, 2024.
