AR recovers contraband items in Manipur’s Chandel district

The seized items have been handed over to Chakpikarong Police Station for further investigation, stated a press note from the PRO, IGAR(S).

Imphal: In a decisive effort to combat illegal drug trafficking in Manipur, the Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) successfully recovered and seized a substantial quantity of drugs including 500 grams of opium and two kg of poppy seeds, during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at Kholmunlen village, Chandel District (Manipur) on February 17, 2025. 

The recovered 500 grams of opium is worth approximately Rs 70,000 to 75,000 and the two Kg of Poppy seeds has a market value of approximately Rs 1000 to 1,500. 

The seized items have been handed over to Chakpikarong Police Station for further investigation, stated a press note from the PRO, IGAR(S).
