APS Deol resignation accepted in Punjab

Chandigarh: The Punjab cabinet has accepted the resignation of Amar Preet Singh Deol as Advocate General, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said here on Tuesday.

Channi gave this information while addressing the media after the cabinet meeting held here under his chairmanship.

He said that in the meeting of the special session of the State Legislative Assembly to be held on November 11, apart from the Central Agricultural Laws, the decision of the Central Government to increase the Border Security Force (BSF) in the border states including Punjab from 15 km to 50 km was set aside. Information was also given to bring a proposal to do so.

During this, Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu was also with Channi.

Sidhu had resigned from his post on September 28 in protest against the appointment of Amar Preet Singh Deol as AG and Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota as the acting DGP of the state by the new Channi government.
On the other hand, Channi’s announcement of removing the AG and appointing a new DGP is being considered as a victory for Sidhu. In the press conference, Sidhu also said that he had demanded from the government to reduce the rates of sand.
