‘Ane Angong’ – an initiative to promote institutional deliveries launched in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: In a bid to support the pregnant women and lactating mothers through ‘better’ maternal healthcare, Arunachal Pradesh Health & Family Welfare, and Women & Child Development Minister Alo Libang on Wednesday launched the ‘Ane Angong’ – an initiative to promote institutional deliveries – at District Hospital, Yingkiong in presence of Upper Siang Deputy Commissioner Shashvat Saurabh, Zilla Parishad Chairperson (ZPC) Lumgeng Litin and others.

“Glad to launch the Ane Angong – an initiative to promote the institutional deliveries – to raise awareness about the proper healthcare of women & maternity facilities to pregnant, lactating women & institutional delivery for better pre & postnatal health care along with DC Shashvat Saurabh at Yingkiong today,” Libang tweeted.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister, while complimenting the District Administration and the partner contributors for coming up with the ‘noble’ initiative, said that all possible steps are being taken up by the government to improve the health services delivery to the common people. He advised all healthcare workers to sincerely work in unison for a better society

The DC, while citing the genesis of the initiative, reiterated the importance of institutional deliveries to mitigate complications arising during and after childbirth. He urged all stakeholders to discourage all unassisted home deliveries and rather encourage women to opt for cent percent institutional deliveries from now on.

The Minister along with the DC and the ZPC later gave away the hampers containing baby toiletries, baby suit, baby blanket, women’s horlicks and a phial of organic honey to the beneficiaries.

In-charge DMO Dr Ahik Miyu and DRCHO Dr Andeng Sitek also spoke on the occasion. The function was also attended by public leaders, head of offices, staff of Health Department, and the members of Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Association, Yingkiong branch.
