Agriculture sector should be rendered all kind of support: Venkaiah

Naidu said that start-up venture of students passing out from Agriculture University should be encouraged.

Motihari: Vice President Venaiah Naidu today called upon for providing all sorts of assistance to the agriculture sector, saying it is not the only backbone of the economy but also our culture.

Naidu while addressing the 2nd convocation of Rajendra Prasad Central Agriculture University (RPCAU) here at Piprakothi, said that agriculture was the most strong pillar of the Indian economy. In fact, agriculture was not only the backbone of the economy but it was also our culture, he added.

Vice President said it was heartening to note that RPCAU was encouraging research and innovation, which were immensely needed to give a strong boost to the agriculture sector. He called upon the students and other experts of agriculture to reach more and more panchayats in Bihar and other parts of the country. Farmers should be made aware of the latest techniques of agriculture for increasing productivity, he added.

Naidu said that start-up venture of students passing out from Agriculture University should be encouraged. Tourism should be encouraged in such new areas where people could get glimpses of flora, fauna, natural beauties besides first-hand information about the latest development in agriculture.

Vice President said that for sustainable development, the potential of the vast agriculture sector should be tapped taking into consideration of social and ecological components. During the Corona pandemic, the trend of reverse migration was noticed and the agriculture sector could be helpful in providing them jobs, he added.
