Guwahati: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Himanta Biswa Sarma sworn in as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam here Monday.
Sarma was the charioteer of BJP’s stride in the Northeast.
He was administered the oath in presence of state Governor Jagdish Mukhi, BJP national President JP Nadda and other leaders at Sankardev Kalakeshtra at a ceremony attended by limited guests.
Along with Sarma, 14 cabinet ministers were administered the oath of office.
Sarma has replaced the outgoing Chief Minister Sarbanabda Sonowal in the earlier BJP government in the state.
BJP along with its alliance partners UPPL and AGP won 72 seats which eight seats more than the magic figure of 64 needed to form the government on 126 member assembly. With agency inputs
