Shillong: Meghalaya on Sunday recorded 321 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally of active cases to 1,821, a senior health official said.
This is the biggest single-day spike the state witnessed this year, the PTI reported.
With the fresh infections, the overall caseload in the northeastern state has mounted to 17,429, Health Services Director Aman War said.
Meanwhile, five more people died of the disease in the last 24 hours, pushing the COVID-19 death toll to 179, the official said.
As many as 154 patients have recovered from the infection, increasing the total recovery to 15,429, he said.
The state has tested 4.66 lakh samples for COVID-19 so far, War said.
Till Saturday, COVID-19 vaccines were administered to 2.97 lakh people in the state.
