10,702 children targeted in Three-Day campaign

Kakching: The Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) drive was officially launched today at the Urban Primary Health Centre, Kakching by Deputy Commissioner, Angeline Renita R (IAS).

The campaign is being organised by the District Health Society, Kakching in collaboration with the District Family Welfare, Kakching under the supervision of the District Administration Kakching.

A total of 135 pulse polio vaccination booths have been set up across the Kakching District, with a target of immunising 10,702 children during the three-day campaign.

At the launch programme today, oral polio vaccines were administered to the children in the 0–5 years age group. The programme was also attended by Thaodem Rajen, Chief Medical Officer, Kakching and Dr. Ksh. Sumati, District Immunisation Officer (in-charge), Kakching.

The campaign will be conducted in three phases, with Booth Day observed today (June 28), followed by house-to-house vaccination visits on June 29. On June 30, to reach the children who may have missed immunisation at the booths.

The drive is being carried out with the participation of ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and other health personnel to ensure that every child below the age of 5 years receives protection against poliovirus.
