Imphal: In a historic display of wellness and solidarity, Assam Rifles organized large-scale digital yoga sessions across Manipur today, contributing significantly to India’s successful Guinness World Record for the highest viewership of a YouTube Yoga Live Stream. Held ahead of the International Day of Yoga 2026 under the Ministry of Ayush theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, the large-scale initiative successfully bridged the gap between border-guarding forces and remote indigenous communities through the universal language of wellness.
The digital drive commenced simultaneously at 0600 hours, spanning multiple border deployments. Extensive participation was recorded across the Kakching and Chandel districts, including Phundrei, Kakching garrisons and remote outposts at Sehlon and Joupi managed by the units at Assam Rifles, alongside the unit at Sajil Tampak. Concurrently, wide-ranging live-viewing sessions were activated at the garrisons at Somasi, Shangshak and Chassad, extending to the villages with Company Operating Bases across Ukhrul and Kamjong districts including Wanglee, Gamnoum, Sorde, Nampisha, Aishi, Tusom, Poi and Shakpao. A major central assembly was also conducted at the Keithalmanbi Garrison, with real-time feeds streaming directly to outposts at Komlakhong, Nambol, Irengbam, Waroiching and Longakoireng, alongside an extensive awareness-cum-participation drive in Churachandpur district.
The multi-location initiative drew a massive combined assembly of 3,895 participants, comprising 3,493 security personnel and 402 civilians, including families and local Agniveer aspirants. Following guided virtual instructors, participants performed a structured sequence of asanas, pranayama and meditation. This strategic outreach by the Assam Rifles emphasises extending the preventive health benefits of yoga to underserved regions, fostering crucial emotional balance, mental resilience and physical endurance. The drive has helped to deepen the tribal-security bond while establishing a daily habit of wellness to enhance the long-term healthspan of the frontier populace.
