Noney: As the entire world is celebrating International Women’s Day, Noney District also celebrated the International Women’s Day today on the theme, “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment” at NG Memorial Hall in Longmai Bazar, Noney District Headquarter.
The event was organised by District Administration Noney in collaboration with ICDS Cell, DSWO and One Stop Centre, Noney under the banner of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
Speaking at the event as chief guest, HL Christian Home, MCS, AC to DC Noney encourage the gathering particularly the student’s community to grow in learnings and to stay educated in life. Without the full knowledge of one’s right, it is hard to exercise it, he said.
To exercise our rights fully, one must first have the full knowledge about the right only then people will respect it, he continued.
He also appeals to all the women and girl’s children not to try drugs or fall victim to any kinds of drugs and urged them to stay away from it saying that drugs are the main cause for spoiling precious human life.
Functional president, who is also the SDC of Haochong, Zaojiangam Pamei led the gathering, a pledge on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan during the programme. Sanitary pads were also distributed to all the females present at the function as part of the celebration. A mass rally on the role of women in fighting against drug abuse in today’s society was also held earlier in the morning from Khumji traffic point to Longmai Bazar traffic point and back to Khumji traffic point which was attended by more than fifty volunteers.
The celebration was attended by SDC / Branch Officer Noney, MK Celestina, officials and staff of Noney DC, students from various schools and women from different walks of life.
