Shillong: Five Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from two different locations in Meghalaya and Assam, Border Security Force (BSF) officials said on Thursday.
Two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by BSF troopers from Meghalaya, while three others were apprehended at Guwahati railway station by Government Railway Police on Wednesday, the BSF official said.
In a statement issued here, the BSF first nabbed Rahul Amin (37), a Bangladeshi tout resident of Sylhet district and Md Abdul Kasim (36) of Sunamganj district near Dawki bridge in bordering area of Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills district.
“Both illegally entered India with an intention to reside in the mainland and assist Bangladeshi nationals for illegal crossing in India,” the BSF official said.
During the interrogation, Amin reportedly told the BSF officials that he was proceeding to Assam’s main city of Guwahati to receive three Bangladeshi nationals who were coming from Jammu & Kashmir by train.
