Three UG cadres apprehended in Manipur; drugs seized

Both were working under the command of self-styled commander Khambaton of the finance section and had been extorting money from several educational institutions

Imphal: Manipur police arrested Wednesday two active members of the banned PREPAK (Pro), namely Chandam Chandramani Singh, 45, alias Gambhir, son of Late Ch. Thambou of Lairenkabi Maning Leikai  and Sorokhaibam Khamba Meitei, 46, son of S. Narsingh Meitei  of Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai. 

Both were working under the command of self-styled commander Khambaton of the finance section and had been extorting money from several educational institutions. One mobile phone each was seized from their possession. 

The arrested persons and seized items were handed over to the Lamsang police station, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police. 

On the same day, a combined  team of Manipur police and Assam Rifles arrested one active cadre of RPF/PLA, namely Wahengbam Paikhomba Meitei alias Nanao alias Akajao, 33, son of W. Pahari Singh of Kumbi Thingel Leikai Laibung Makhong. 

He was working under the command of one Mr. Chinglen in the Finance section and extorting money in the general area of Kwakeithel.  One mobile phone along with a SIM was recovered from his possession.

The arrested person and recovered item were handed over to the Kumbi police station, the press note added.

One arrested with WY tablets in Tengnoupal

A team of Tengnoupal District Police seized two packets containing WY tablets weighing 2.276 Kg, from one person namely Limkhohao Baite, 39, son of late Ngamjang Baite of Mission Veng, Moreh Ward No. 2, Tengnoupal District, Manipur, which was concealed inside an auto-rickshaw bearing registration No. MN06SB pm Thursday.

The arrested person and seized items were handed over to Tengnoupal Police station for further investigation, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
