Imphal: Marking the successful culmination of all pool fixtures, Day Nine of the 3rd Director General Assam Rifles Hockey Cup 2026 produced thrilling action at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium in Imphal East district, organised under the aegis of Manipur Hockey.
The morning session commenced with MEIRAA securing a walkover at 7:00 AM, followed by a closely fought Men’s Pool match at 9:00 AM where SSB edged past MPSC 2–1. The competitive momentum escalated in the afternoon as ARMY XI registered a comprehensive 10–0 victory over TWC at 1:30 PM. In the final Women’s Pool match at 3:00 PM, MEIRAA delivered a commanding performance to defeat TWC 8–0.
With the conclusion of all 30 pool matches, the tournament now sets the stage for high-stakes knockout encounters on 27 September. The Women’s Final will feature an exciting showdown between table-toppers MEIRAA and THA. Meanwhile, the Men’s Semi-Finals will witness ARMY XI clashing with MEIRAA, alongside a fierce battle between COS and SSB.
Spectators across Imphal East have turned out in large numbers throughout the tournament, cheering the players and enjoying a superb display of skills. Organised by Assam Rifles in collaboration with Manipur Hockey from 18 to 28 September 2026, the championship has successfully aimed to revive grassroots hockey, foster health and discipline among youth and provide a platform for regional talent to excel.
