Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday did not receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he arrived here.

This is the fourth time in 10 months that KCR avoided receiving Modi in Telangana.

The Chief Minister’s move triggered a fresh war of words between the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the BJP.

TRS leaders had earlier alleged that it was disrespectful on part of the PMO for not sending an official invite to the Chief Minister, ignoring that Telangana holds 11 per cent share in the plant.

It accused the Modi government of insulting Telangana by sending a communication to the Chief Minister to participate in the inaugural event rather than invite him.

The BJP instead alleged that the Chief Minister had insulted the Prime Minister.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, an MP from Secunderabad, said: “The CM’s attitude was a loss to the state as the Prime Minister arrived to launch multiple projects benefiting the state.”

Ever since the announcement of PM Modi’s visit to Telangana, a poster war between the BJP and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the renamed Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), has been on. Banner and posters say: “PM Modi go back”.

BJP State President Bandi Sanjay Kumar said KCR “does not have the culture to receive the Prime Minister’.
