Minister Ranjan launches India Hypertension Control Initiative in Manipur

Imphal: Health & IPR Minister, Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh launched “India Hypertension Control Initiative In Manipur” Monday on the occasion of the observance of World Heart Day held at Kangmong Langoljam Community Hall in Konthoujam Assembly Constituency.

He said that the heart is one of the most important organs of the human body. “A body is identified whether dead or alive through the heart beat of the person. Our heart can be taken care of through regular exercises and by prescribing good food. Keeping tension and stress away will also help to keep our heart healthy and strong”, he added.

He said that the government has introduced many health schemes at the center and state level. Health schemes like PMJAY, CMHT and Chief Minister’s Haksel for All have been introduced with the objective to avail health benefits to all. The aim of the government is to make it able to cut the expenditure of the people on health care. 

Ranjan stated that the role played by the Anganwadi workers, helpers and ASHAs in the society need to be encouraged. Anganwadi workers and helpers work at the grassroots level and help to reach out the flagship schemes to the masses. They should be facilitated, he maintained. 

Minister also informed that for bringing a better healthcare system, we need to focus on the primary level health care service. The government has chalked out strategies to keep vigil on the government projects whether the sanctioned funds are utilized in the right way or not, he added.  

Director, Health Services Manipur, Dr. Kh. Sasheekumar Mangang; Director, National Health Mission, Manipur Dr. Somorjit Ningombam and Joint Director, Health, Dr. Y. Premchandra shared the dais as president and guests of Honor respectively. Officials and staff of the health department and NHM, Manipur and others also attended the occasion.

Later, the Minister paid a visit at a free heart camp which was organized at the venue as a part of the observance and interacted with the locals. Ranjan also inspected the existing infrastructures of Health and Wellness Centre, Kangmong.
