Shillong: There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily Covid19 cases in Meghalaya over the past few days with 13 new cases increasing the number of active cases to 82 on Friday, officials said.
The state has so far registered 93974 confirmed cases, including 1594 cases of fatality and 92298 cases of recovery, as per report received from the health and family welfare department.
The Meghalaya High Court had recently asked the state government and local bodies not to drop their guards and ensure Covid protocol was maintained and enforced in the state.
The number of active Covid-19 cases in the most pandemic-hit East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong has shot up to 27 with the district accounting for nine new cases on Friday, a bulletin issued by the health department stated on Friday.
Meanwhile, of the 1410143 persons tested for Covid-19 in the state till Friday, 1316169 were tested negative for the virus, the state Covid dashboard reflected.
According to the National Health Mission record, 32137 health care workers have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, 29502 have been administered with the second dose and 9775 have taken the third precaution dose, while 97022 front-line workers have been vaccinated with the first dose, 85690 have received the second dose and 27982 have got the precaution shot, even as 1299615 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose, 945876 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose and 9700 citizens have taken the booster dose across the state as on date.
