New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said his government has set the target to achieve 100 per cent vaccination of the first dose by this month.

“We want to complete the first dose of vaccination by this month,” Sarma told reporters here.

The Chief Minister said the state Health Department will give vaccines to all eligible populations till November 26 and thereafter, the ASHA and Anganwadi workers will give a certificate to the administration that in their respective areas located under a polling station, vaccination of the first dose has been completed.

“For certificate authentication, from the Chief Minister to the Chief Secretary and others, all of us will be visiting every household under one polling station to ensure whether they are vaccinated or not,” said Sarma, adding that over 42,000 gazetted officers, teachers and professors, are being engaged in this exercise.

“By the end of February, we will complete the second dose of vaccination,” he said, adding that Assam has administered 2,03,60,763 first doses of vaccine and 91,32,659 second doses so far.
