Shillong: The daily COVID-19 case count has been on the decline in Meghalaya with 22 new cases of infection adding up to 431 active cases, one more death of a person who was not vaccinated, increasing the number of fatalities to 1450 and 51 more recoveries from the viral disease surging the number of recovered cases to 81,746 on Sunday, health officials said.
The State has so far registered 83627 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Of the new COVID-19 cases detected on Sunday, 14 were in the East Khasi Hills district, three in West Garo Hills district, two in West Khasi Hills district and one each in North Garo Hills district, Ri-Bhoi district and West Jaintia Hills district.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong has further come down to 284 with the state recording 18 more recoveries and 14 new cases of infection on Sunday.
The ten other districts too have been registering a steady decline in the number of active COVID-19 cases with the West Khasi Hills having 56 cases, West Jaintia Hills with 28 cases, Ri-Bhoi with 24 cases, West Garo Hills with 12 cases, East Garo Hills with 10 cases, South West Khasi Hills with six cases, East Jaintia Hills with four cases, three cases each in North Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills and one case in the South Garo Hills, according to the latest official case count.
On the other hand, 32,075 health care workers have received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 and 28,132have been administered with the second dose, 96,965 front-line workers have got the first dose and 80,267 have taken the second shot, 9,74,152 citizens from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 5,33,093 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose across the state as on date, health officials said.
