Four more deaths Tuesday takes tally to 1901

Imphal: After a lull in Manipur, the Covid pandemic claimed four more lives on Tuesday taking the cumulative death toll to 1901. In the last 24 hours leading up to 2 pm of Tuesday, Manipur registered 95 new positive cases (89 general population new positive cases (89 general population, six CAPF) and 116 recoveries, as per an official release from the health department.

Two of the four who expired today are from Imphal East while each are from Kangpokpi and Thoubal. All four had co-morbidities and none of them had been vaccinated for Covid.

Of the 89 persons from the general population who tested positive, 42 are from Imphal West, 19 are from Imphal East, 13 from Bihsnupur, six from Thoubal, four each from Chandel and Ukhrul three from Kamjong and one each from Churachandpurm, Kakching, Noney and Tengnoupal. Altogether, 2,488 persons were tested amounting to a positivity rate of 3.8 %.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 1, 22,899 out of which 1,19,640 have recovered leaving 1,358 active cases.

The total number of doses administered on October 18, 2021, is 12,829 and the cumulative number of doses administered is 18, 41,865 (1st dose 12,37,529, 2nd dose 6,04,336).
