18 candidates in fray to contest election in Kangpokpi district

The observers reviewed the district’s poll preparedness ahead of the first phase voting to the 12th Manipur Legislative Election, 2022 scheduled to be held on 27th February, 2022.

Kangpokpi: General Observer Probhudutta David Pradhan, IAS, Expenditure Observer Manish Kumar Chavda, IRS (C&CE) and Police Observer Sarat Kaviraj, IPS Wednesday had a meeting with the District Election Officer (DEO) Kengoo Zuringla, IAS and entire election team of the Kangpokpi district at the Conference Hall of the DC Complex, Kangpokpi. 

The observers reviewed the district’s poll preparedness ahead of the first phase voting to the 12th Manipur Legislative Election, 2022 scheduled to be held on 27th February, 2022. During the meeting, the General Observer discussed the preparations taken up by the DEO and the team to conduct the forthcoming election in a free, fair, accessible, inclusive and inducement free manner in the district. 

The Observers also highlighted the need to ensure adequate supply of vehicles for officers on election duty and for all teams like the Video Surveillance, Flying Squads, among others so that there will be no hindrances in reaching even the remotest part of the district. The Observer also stressed on the role of the micro observers and usage of webcasting/videography. A meeting will be held again tomorrow regarding poll preparations.

The District Election team highlighted the overall preparations undertaken in the district, including transportation of EVMs, polling personnel, use of VVPATs, training for polling personnel, among others. 

The meeting was also attended by Returning Officers of 46-Saikul (ST) A/C Bungba Maibam Khuman, 50 Kangpokpi A/C Laishram Manikanta, 51-Saitu (ST) A/C Sapam Bishwojit Singh, District Nodal Officer Expenditure Management Rebek Lalparvul, SDCs, CMO, Additional SP, DTO and Nodal Officer MCMC T. Ranita among others.

Meanwhile, scrutiny was held Wednesday for the candidates who filed their nominations for the upcoming election and there was no cancellation. It may be mentioned that altogether 18 Candidates – 6 (six) from the 51-Saitu (ST) Assembly Constituency; 8 (eight) from 46-Saikul (ST) Assembly Constituency and 4(four) from 50-Kangpokpi Assembly Constituency in the Kangpokpi District.
