Hyderabad: In a heart-rending incident, a 20-year-old woman tied her six-month-old daughter to her waist and allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a water tank in Midijil Mandal of Mahabubnagar district in Telangana on Thursday.
She took the extreme step due to the alleged harassment of her husband and his family.
The woman Saritha along with her daughter Bhumika left the house two days ago following which her family members started searching for them and also lodged a complaint with the police.
Local people this morning noticed the bodies of the victims floating in the water tank and informed the police.
Police arrived at the scene of the incident, retrieved the bodies and sent them to a local government hospital for post-mortem.
Local people alleged that Saritha was depressed owing to harassment by her husband’s family.
