Imphal: Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said if the Bharatiya Janata Party government returns to power in Manipur, it will hold talks with all rebel groups to establish peace in the state.
Addressing a rally at Kangpokpi in poll-bound Manipur, Shah said the BJP government has brought peace to Manipur for the first time in decades.
“BJP government has brought peace for the first time to Manipur. It has taken Manipur away from blockades, drugs, terrorism, and it is moving on a path of peace and prosperity,” Shah said.
“I promise today, if BJP govt comes back to power, we will talk to all rebel groups, and peace would be established on these mountains,” he said. He said 9500 youth have given up arms and joined the mainstream.
“It is time to talk to the youth, take them in confidence, and bring everyone back to the mainstream,” he said. Manipur goes to polls in two phases on February 28 and March 5.Â
