Voluntary blood donation camp held in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi : As part of the observance of Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026, the District Health Society (DHS), Kangpokpi, in collaboration with the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, Imphal, and Mobilisation Partner, Association for Social Advancement Programme (ASAP), organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at the District Hospital, Kangpokpi.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kangpokpi, Shri Dr. Paokai Kipgen, addressed the attendees and volunteers about Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and the importance and benefits of voluntary blood donation. He highlighted that blood donation is a noble humanitarian act that can help save the lives of patients in need of blood during emergencies, surgeries, accidents and other medical conditions. He also encouraged the volunteers to continue donating blood regularly, as eligible donors can contribute to maintaining an adequate and timely supply of safe blood for those in need. He further noted that voluntary blood donation also promotes a sense of social responsibility and community service. He appreciated and encouraged the Medical Superintendent, Medical Officers and staff for their dedication and efforts in mobilising voluntary blood donors. Highlighting that blood donation saves lives, he appreciated the volunteers for their thoughtful and humanitarian service. The CMO expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in making the camp a grand success.

At the camp, volunteers were first screened and counselled by the Medical Officers, where their blood pressure, health history and other relevant health parameters were checked before they proceeded to the donation room. A total of around 40 blood donation procedures were carried out. As part of the camp, the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, Imphal, also presented Certificates of Appreciation to the volunteers in recognition of their humanitarian service towards saving lives.
