Kyiv: An American journalist was killed by Russian forces in Ukraine’s Irpin, Kyiv region police said on Sunday.
Another journalist was injured by the Russian troops, CNN quoted the police as saying.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s human rights ombudsman Luidmila Denisova has claimed Russia used banned phosphorus munitions in an attack overnight in Popasna in eastern Ukraine.
“The bombing of a civilian city by the Russian attackers with these weapons is a war crime and a crime against humanity according to the Rome convention,” Denisova said.
Earlier, an airport in the western Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk has had its infrastructure almost completely destroyed by a Russian airstrike, the city’s mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv said while speaking to Parliamentary TV channel “Rada”, CNN reported.
The mayor added that this is the third attack on the airport.
