Jalaun (UP): A youth was killed, and another was washed away when a car fell into a canal due to dense fog in Kotwali area of Jalaun district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the incident took place when Banke Bihari, a resident of Dhanaura Kalan, was going to the market along with his friend Sumit Sharma and driver Anand Kumar in the morning. “Due to poor visibility and dense fog, driver Anand could not spot the road and the car fell into the canal near Narayanapura village,” they said.
Police sources said that driver Anand somehow swam to safety and took Banke out of the canal with the help of the villagers. “Banke was taken to the hospital where he died during treatment. The car was taken out of the canal with the help of a bulldozer, but Sumit was washed away due to strong current. A rescue operation is being carried out to trace Sumit,” he said.
