Hyderabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday assured the farmers that the central government will soon take up special measures for the marketing of ‘organic products.
In an interactive meeting with the Adarsh farmers from different districts at Begumpet airport here, Shah said that very soon, suitable arrangements will be made in Hyderabad to collect organic products through the Amul company.
As part of that, 5 organic agriculture laboratories are being started in Hyderabad, he said that besides conducting tests on organic products, measures will be taken to conduct soil tests twice a year in the lands where organic products are grown.
A lot of good can be done with organic farming, the Union Minister said that he is also doing organic farming and recalled that in the past, the crop was damaged due to the use of chemical fertilizers on his 20 acres.
He said that he has melu jati (Ikkis) cows and one of them belongs to the 12th generation.
Shah explained that he wanted to name the cow Mahalakshmi and give it as a gift to his grandson and that using cow dung as organic fertilizers is very beneficial
In the 30-minute meeting with Shah, many farmers complained to him that the Fasal Bima Yojana is not being implemented in Telangana state and expressed that they suffered serious crop loss due to the untimely rains and not received any compensation from the government.
During this meeting discussed the benefits of organic farming and the implementation of a crop insurance scheme, a woman farmer, Lavanya, from Telkapalli Mandal in the state said that while she had 10 acres of land in the past, had suffered serious losses due to agriculture and even sold some land and making profits after starting organic farming.
Especially during the Corona period, a large number of people came to her and purchased organic products, she added.
After the meeting, Kisan Morcha State President, Sridhar Reddy said the progressive farmers have explained to Amit Shah that although the Prime Minister’s crop insurance scheme is being implemented throughout the country, it has not been implemented in Telangana.
Earlier, on his arrival at the Begumpet airport in the city to address a public meeting at the bye-election bound Munugode, Amit Shah was received by prominent state BJP leaders including the party’s Telangana unit President Bandi Sanjay, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, and BJP national OBC Morcha president Dr K Laxman.
