Imphal: Don Bosco College, Maram has become an autonomous institution in the state. The autonomy status of the college is conferred by University Grant Commission.
Declaring the autonomy status Education Minister S Rajen Singh said that Don Bosco College, Maram, is the only college in the state scoring 3.5 credit point under the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC. He said that the credit score of 3.5 need to be maintained in order to retain the present status and also to be eligible to receive the grants from UGC. Minister also appreciated the sincere service of the college staff.
Rajen maintained that National Education Policy, NEP, 2020 has been introduced to improve the education sector of the country. State-level task force has also been constituted for the successful implementation of the policy in the state. A grand seminar has also been organised at City Convention Centre in which Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs, academicians, scholars, professors and others participated. District level awareness programmes on NEP will also be organised, he added.
Minister Rajen and his team was warmly received at the college by a contingent of students of Don Bosco College with a guard of honour. He also handed over awards to best performers of the college.
Speaking at the occasion Director, Education (U) Dr Rangitabali Waikhom said that knowledge is very important, without which one cannot grow. Experiencing and exchanging ideas is also a part of increasing knowledge and wisdom. Faculty and students’ exchange programme will also help to improve knowledge and skills for both, she added.
