Tripura to get two women run polling booth

Agartala: The election commission of India has decided to set up two complete women-run polling booths in Agartala to hold by-elections on June 23 next as part of the initiative of women empowerment, poll officials said here on Sunday.

The officials said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gitte Kirankumar Dinkarrao on Saturday visited the proposed polling booths at Ramnagar Girls’ HS School and took the stock of preparation and logistics available in the school considering the requirements of the female polling staff.

“Two polling stations will be set up in the premises of Ramnagar Girls’ HS School in the city, which will be completely run by women employees including presiding officer, micro-observer, staff, and total election management in these booths would be managed by women employees”, said CEO Kiran Gitte.

He further pointed out that the election commission will make all required arrangements for both the polling staff as well the voters considering the monsoon situation in the state.

He further reiterated, “We will ensure webcasting and videography for the casting of votes. The secrecy of votes will be maintained. Separate entry and exit doors for every polling station will be made mandatory.”
