Agartala: A 15 years old student was injured in a blast of an indigenously manufactured crude bomb on Wednesday in an abandoned place of school at bordering village Kalsimura of Boxanagar in Sepahijala district, police said.
The SP Sepahijala B J Reddy said when students of the Kalsimura school went for playing during leisure in the nearby open space, a student of class IX identified as Taiful Islam (15) saw a packet and then tried to open one of the bombs exploded.
“The bomb squad defused four bombs contained in the package, and it believes there were five crude low-intensity explosives inside. The forensic team and experts are investigating the incident along with the police and the source of the explosive, how it was abandoned near the school,” Reddy said.
According to local sources, Taiful found a packet in the back side of the school when he went there to respond to a call of nature.
As soon as he touched it, a device within the bag exploded and Taiful sustained serious injuries on his hand, which triggered panic in the locality.
Amidst the panic and fear the school authority send Taiful to Sonamura hospital from where he was referred to Agartala Govt Medical College and is currently under treatment for burn and scratch injuries.
Despite being out of danger, doctors said he is traumatized by the blast.
