Agartala: The Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday reaffirmed that the state government has been working with all dedication to providing drinking water to 7.42 lakh households by December this year.
Chowdhury said he reviewed the ongoing implementation work of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and it revealed that connecting the households with purified drinking water is on the verge of completion.
While around 4.07 lakh households have been getting water under JJM, providing connection to the remaining 3.35 lakh households is going in full swing to meet up the target.
The officials are advised to work in mission mode for this project to connect the remaining 45 per cent of households with a purified drinking water supply by next month, the minister said, adding that the development of the state will accelerate only if the administration and people work together.
The officials claimed that since the launch of JJM, as many as 616 deep tube wells, 2,723 small bore deep tube wells, 61 innovative water supply schemes, 3 surface water treatment plants, and 68 iron removal plants have been installed in the state. So far, 3,571 schools and 5,009 Anganwadi centres have been provided with tap water.
