Tripura mulls to involve clubs and NGOs to assist poor

Officials said that in a review meeting yesterday Chief Minister has advised Social Welfare and Social Education department to encourage clubs and NGOs to join hands to help the poor people especially, for the education of girl children of widows.

Agartala: Tripura government mulled an idea to mobilise clubs and social organizations to assist in the education of the daughters of poor widows in their respective localities along with monitoring the social welfare projects of the central and state governments in providing various facilities including nutrition, health and education to the children.

Officials said that in a review meeting yesterday Chief Minister has advised Social Welfare and Social Education department to encourage clubs and NGOs to join hands to help the poor people especially, for the education of girl children of widows.

He has also directed to work out a special plan to reduce the rate of malnutrition among children and women and devised a mechanism to keep tracking on the Anganwadi centres whether the beneficiaries are getting all the services and benefits regularly.

The chief minister also stressed the need to provide cooking gas and electricity to all the Anganwadi centres and asked the officials to go for an intensive survey for ensuring safe drinking and potable water to those centres.
