Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Nandamuri Tarakaratna passed away on Saturday night at Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital in Bangalore while undergoing treatment for heart attack.
He was 40 years old and is survived by wife and a daughter.
Tarakaratna’s mortal remains were shifted in an ambulance from Bangalore to his residence situated at Mokila in Rangaredy district of Telangana late night on Saturday.
Tarakaratna’s mortal remains will be placed at the Telugu Film Chamber on Monday morning for fans and people to pay their respects, while his last rites will be performed at Maha Prasthanam, in the evening.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the demise of Tarakaratna.
He tweeted, “Pained by the untimely demise of Shri Nandamuri Taraka Ratna Garu. He made a mark for himself in the world of films and entertainment. My thoughts are with his family and admirers in this sad hour. Om Shanti: PM @narendramo”.
Film celebrities and political leaders including Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Ro, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan, TDP National President and former chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Janasena President Pawan Kalyan, Chiranjeevi, TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh and among others expressed their condolences on the demise of Tarakaratna.
On January 27, Tarakaratna participated in the Yuvagalam Padayatra organized by TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh at Kuppam. Tarakaratna suffered a heart attack and collapsed while going on a padayatra with Lokesh.
He was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Kuppam. Later he was shifted to Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital in Bangalore for better treatment. But he breathed his lost on Saturday night, while undergoing treatment.
Tarakaratna was born on February 22, 1983 in Hyderabad. Tarakaratna made his debut as a hero with the movie Okato Number Kurradu in 2002 under the direction of K Raghavendra Rao.
Tarakaratna, who is also grandson of late movie icon NT Rama Rao and cousin of Tollywood star Jr NTR, created a world record in 2002 by starting 9 films at once. Tarakaratna got the Nandi Award for the movie Amaravati which was released in 2009. He acted in about 23 films as hero, villain and character artist.
