Agartala: After a yearlong battle, the All India Trinamool Congress opened its Tripura state office on Monday in the heart of the city.
The area falls under the constituency of fBJP leader and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Trinamool heavyweights like the party-state in-charge in Tripura Rajib Banerjee, West Bengal Law Minister Malay Ghatak, Youth Trinamool Congress President Saayoni Ghosh, and Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Trinamool State President Subal Bhowmik alleged the ruling BJP had not allowed his party to open its state headquarters in Agartala besides obstructing all political activities and the movement of its leaders. Hundreds of Trinamool workers and supporters were being tortured almost every day by BJP goons and the police didn’t take any action.

“Till this morning BJP leaders have tried to prevent the opening of the office in the Chittaranjan area of Agartala. We started our activities exactly a year ago in Tripura but whenever we made an attempt to rent an office or buy a plot for the party, the BJP created obstruction and threatened the land owners. Very secretly TMC has managed to build this house. We put up the signboard only today, This episode shows how undemocratic and intolerant party the BJP is,” Bhowmik said.

Rajib Banerjee said, “Trinamool Congress has been progressing well in Tripura and gaining ground every day. The by-election to four assembly constituencies last month didn’t reflect the public support for the BJP. Trinamool supporters were not allowed to vote. The entire process was A farce and the votes were looted. So, we are not at all worried and know the upcoming assembly elections will be different where TMC will play the dominant role.”

He maintained that TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee time and again has iterated that party supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the whole party were committed to forming the government in Tripura next year and “show the BJP that Tripura is the next to West Bengal in terms of development and people’s welfare”.

“If we have one roti – it will be divided into two parts – one for Tripura and the other for West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee has no intention to loot the resources of Tripura like what the BJP and its team did under the leadership of Biplab Kumar Deb for the last four years. Trinamool Congress stands with the people of Tripura and wants to develop it like any other state,” Banerjee claimed.

He claimed there was no democracy or development in Tripura. “There is only violence, vendetta, and corruption with regard to development funds under BJP’s rule. When West Bengal is progressing in the socio-economic parameters, Tripura has been stagnant because of the undemocratic governance of BJP”.
