Agartala: Tripura royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman’s Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA), which has been ruling the state’s lone autonomous district council (ADC) has announced to hold a two-day long ‘Dharna’ at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to press for the demand of ‘Greater Tipraland’ in the third week of this month, said the working president of TIPRA Youth front (TYF) Pithur Debbarma here today.

He said that TIPRA Motha led by Pradyot Kishore Debbarman has formed ADC early this year with the slogan of forming Greater Tipraland including the tribal-dominated plains of Tripura and neighbouring Assam, and parts of Bangladesh. Accordingly, the first session of ADC had passed the Greater Tipraland bill and sent it to the state government for its ascent but yet to get.

TYF has launched a campaign across the state inviting the volunteers and supporters of Greater Tipraland to join the sit-in demonstration at Jantar Mantar. As of now, around 1300 leaders and activists of TIPRA Motha participate in the Dharna to be held immediately after the Durga puja. The TIPRA will seek the attention of the central government on their demand for the demonstration, Debbarma added.
