Imphal: Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, expressed his party’s full readiness to support any initiatives aimed at bringing peace to Manipur. During a meeting with Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Monday, Gandhi emphasized the urgent need to support the displaced people who have been in relief camps for 14 months and called for concrete steps to resolve the ongoing crisis.
Gandhi, on a one-day visit to Manipur, also met with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the relief camps, where he heard firsthand about their suffering. He was previously briefed on the state government’s efforts to provide essential commodities to those in the camps by Manipur’s Chief Secretary, Dr. Vineet Joshi, and Security Advisor, Mr. Kuldiep Singh.
Governor Uikey, welcoming the Leader of Opposition, stressed the importance of political leaders from all parties working together to resolve the crisis. She highlighted the need to bridge the trust deficit between the two communities to create a conducive atmosphere for dialogue. The Governor appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate with the government in efforts to resolve the state’s crisis.
Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by K.C.
