Three RAP suspended for setting afire shop in Manipur

The shop belongs to one Johnson Kamei and is run by one Md. Habibur Rehman from Mayang, Imphal, for selling beef meat.

Imphal: In a turn of events, three personnel of the Rapid Action Forces deployed by the Manipur government to control sectarian violence that erupted on May 3 have been suspended by the Ministry of Home Affairs for allegedly being involved in setting a shop fire in Imphal East areas on Friday.

The three personnel of the RAF—Somdev Army, 37, of Aligarh, UP; Kuldeep Singh, 40, of Haryana; Pradeep Kumar, 33, of Sonipat, Haryana; and one S Bhupendra Singh of Naharup Mayai Leikai, who was driving a Maruti Gipsy—were caught on camera while they were allegedly trying to set a meat shop ablaze at the New Checkon area on Friday evening.

The shop belongs to one Johnson Kamei and is run by one Md. Habibur Rehman from Mayang, Imphal, for selling beef meat.

All the accused are under the custody of the Porompat police station and an FIR has been registered in this regard.
